Ned Boyd - Musical Coordinator
Ned Boyd comes from a Presbyterian background. His parents both sang in the choir at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashville, North Carolina. This is where Ned attended Sunday School, completed confirmation class, and participated in music programs (Youth Choir, Hand bell Choir, and musical productions). As a young musician, he also attended the PAM (Presbyterian Association of Musicians) Conference held annually at Montreat College in Black Mountain, NC. He attended this conference for five years in a row, and this had a huge impact upon his life.
Following high school, he attended the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem where he received his Bachelor of Music degree. He also received his Master of Music in Education/Jazz from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
Ned’s current position is Director of Bands in the Logansport School Corporation. Prior to that, he was the Director of Choirs for three years at Columbia Middle School here in Logansport. He also served for several years as Choir Master at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo. In addition to this, he was a band member on board cruise ships in the late 1980’s.
It is an understatement to say that Ned Boyd is a versatile and accomplished musician! His resume includes about five pages of musical events, activities, programs, and positions in which he has been involved over the years. I might mention that one of these activities in which he has been involved is Christmas Eve Services at Calvary. He played the saxophone as well as other instruments at 2 or 3 of these services.
Ned and his family live in Logansport and are active members of All Saints Catholic Church. He and his wife, Jean, are the parents of Grace, who will be a sophomore at LHS, Katie, who will be a freshman at LHS, and Caroline, who will enter the 6th grade at All Saints Catholic School.
